M.S.: Lake is the last of the eight trigrams, depicting happiness and joy, inside and out. It is the closing state of the process of change. It expresses joy while finding Tao. Water from lake refreshes all beings. What is the lake-symbol for you?
K.Ž.: A good rapid association... In fact, the lake is the first great canvas that I painted in 2003 and I don't know if you recall that it was your impulse, and also "for" you. You visited me in my studio and you said, "let's try a large format". And I accepted your challenge. Lake is meditation, concentration and hidden movement and strength - sometimes in the depths something hidden is anticipated... I suppose I've got lake associated with endings and beginnings, with arrival and departure.
