NOTES AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Notes: Curated in The Window to the VVP AVU Video Archive programme at Artycok.tv in 2013.

Adopted text on the work: This video captures the ambience at the opening of an exhibition in one of the most important Czech galleries of its time. Shots of the gallery’s exterior, i.e. of Národní třída, alternate with information about Skrepl’s exhibition, fragments of the opening speech, and a performance by the Dependent Dance Company of Petr Záveský.

The video ends with banal dialogues taking place at the end of the opening in an almost empty gallery.

Gallery curator Jaroslav Krbůšek opened Vladimír Skrepl’s exhibition. Jana Ševčíková from the Art Academy (AVU) spoke about Míla Preslová’s exhibition “Housewife,” held in the basement of the gallery Malá Špálovka. The video features, among others, artists Josef Bolf, Jiří Černický, Tomáš Císařovský, Martin Dostál, Pavla Gajdošíková, Anežka Hošková, Mário Chromý, Vilém Kabzan, Jiří Kovanda, Jarmila Kovandová, Alena Kotzmannová, Václav Magid, Jiří Matějů, Milan Mikuláštík, Jan Mucska, Míla Preslová, Petr Romanov, Markéta Vaňková, Jiří Ševčík, Jakub Špaňhel, Marek Ther and Ivan Vosecký.

The exhibition’s opening took place on March 7th, 2001.
