NOTES AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Notes: Included in the compilation Vít Soukup: Everything! Films and Theater Performances 1993–2003 (edited by T. Nekvindová, S. Sobotovičová) - published in 2012 by the Research Centre of Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (VVP AVU) in cooperation with Divus.

Acting, dancing, and singing: Vít Soukup – singer/songwriter Janko Čutkaj, Honza, Father II; Jan Materna – Father I, dancer, singer; Veronika Doutlíková – Mother I; Jakub Dolejš – Petey (son); Stanislava Konvalinková – dancer; Hana Puchová – recitation; Marcela Buřičová – Georgia; Lenka Urbanová – Mother II, singer; Eliška Pokorná – Renata (daughter), illusionist’s assistant; Jan Novotný – illusionist; Adam Hlaváč – psychotronic medium; Jan Kučera - prompt, moderator, announcer

Adopted text on the work: This cabaret on allergies and addictions opens with a theatrical performance of Soukup’s film The Silver Trail (1993) and includes references to other protagonists from his films, such as Peter Drudge as the author of several poems recited on stage. The program concludes with the figure of a psychotronic medium poking fun at the era’s television psychics who tried to send positive energy through the television screen.

The performance evening featured the songs My Baby, The Whole World, Hotel Garibaldi, Birds and Train Tracks, Mr. Painter, Farewell My Dear, and Medlin (Madeleine) from Vít Soukup’s demo album Songs from beneath Motorcycles (1994). Appearing on stage were students of the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, as well as several of Vít’s classmates from secondary school in České Budějovice. According to those in attendance, the performance took place at Prague’s Roxy club sometime between October 1993 and April 1994. Since the other Academy performance evenings that we have come across took place in the spring, we have dated it to 1994. The poor sound quality is the result of a bad recording.
