Adopted text on the work: A western with clichéd cowboys, an Indian, an oil baron, a delicate maiden, and a sultry temptress, Song of the Colts makes references to the Winnetou movies and the Czech western parody Lemonade Joe. Evil is on a rampage, and the only people to stand in its way are the newly arrived good guy Ben Sage and his allies – the alcohol-sodden Indian Kangi Najin and the local sheriff. This silent film with intertitles is subversively accompanied by a slightly out-of-tune piano. The intermission – a reference to the inane practices of socialist television – feels like a flash from the past, except that the cute romping kittens are played by waterfowl.
